Ms. Claire Chen, sitting at the end of the table, Senior Consular Officer of the Taipei Economic & Cultural Office, hosted 12 high school students and 3 teachers from Yilan, Taiwan who arrived earlier this morning after 27 hours of travel into Ft Lauderdale Airport from Taiwan. Greater Ft Lauderdale Sister Cities International (GFLSCI) Past President Marcus Koch, wearing the blue jacket, also attended the breakfast. Getting the Yilan, Taiwan students here was a great collaboration between Thaís Simões, of our Brazilian Sister City of São Sebastião, Monica Ribeiro, GFLSCI’s Brazilian Chairwoman, President Lee Chine Chen & Vice President Denise Chou of the Yilan Sister Cities Corporation and Donna Scantlebury, Sister Cities International Florida State Representative and finally, Taiwan Sister Cities President Prof. H.B. Ding and Vice President Kuan Lee. I am so proud of our teamwork that helped connect the citizens around the world and brought them together in Fort Lauderdale!
Here is a short video of the meeting !
BBG presented their interests about establishing a voting center for Brazilian citizens as well as involving with the education program to teach Portuguese. Mayor, Trantalis added ideas for Brazilian team to join the boat race event which one of the biggest events in Fort Lauderdale. Those are the main topics that were brought up at the table, but we had more ideas exchanged at the meeting. It is exciting to see what future events will be.
Greater Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International made the news for all the right reasons! Thank you Scott Luxor of the Sun-Sentinel for taking an interest in this organization!
